American Airlines Expands Premium Seating and Restores Seatback Screens Across Fleet

American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) plans to significantly expand premium seating and restore seatback entertainment screens across its narrowbody fleet as the carrier seeks to improve its competitive position against Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) and United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAL). The Fort Worth-based airline said premium seats are expected to account for around 40% of capacity on narrowbody departures in the coming years, up from approximately 25% currently.

Air Canada sold the 25% Aeroplan program stake to Blackstone and some leading Canadian institutional investors, valuing the program at more than $7 billion U.S. dollars ($10 billion Canadian dollars), according to a news release Tuesday.
