Privacy Policy

1. Overview

ScreenerHero is a stock screener. You can browse and screen stocks without an account; creating one is optional and unlocks saved watchlists, alerts, screens and portfolios. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account data — if you create an account: your email address and a password (stored in hashed form, never in clear text), an optional display name, the country detected from your connection and your time zone. We also keep the campaign or referral link that brought you, if any, and when you were last active.
  • What you save — watchlists, alerts, saved screens, portfolios and trades you enter, chart drawings and display preferences. They are stored on our servers and tied to your account.
  • Shared watchlists — anyone who has the address of a watchlist can view it. If you invite people to edit one, they can see your display name (or your email with part of it hidden) and which stocks you added. You can turn the invite link off or remove people at any time, and people can leave.
  • Profile photo — optional. If you upload one, we store a small resized copy (256 × 256 pixels, without camera or location data) on our image hosting. Its web address is public: anyone who has it can see the photo. We show it to the people you share watchlists with and on the invite links you send. You can replace or remove it at any time in your account.
  • Payments — checkout is handled by our payment processor. We keep a reference to your customer record, your plan status and the amount paid. We never see or store your card details.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, clicks and similar interaction events, and recordings of how pages are used (what you type into form fields is masked). When you are signed in, this data is associated with your account.
  • Emails — we send account emails (such as verification and password reset) and, depending on your choices, alert digests and a weekly market brief. We may also send occasional emails about getting started or about your plan. Optional emails carry a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Server logs — standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, requested page). They are rotated automatically and kept only for a limited time, for security and debugging.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

  • Strictly necessary — a sign-in session cookie (only when you are signed in), a cookie that remembers your display currency, and preferences kept in your browser's local storage (for example theme and layout). The service does not work properly without them.
  • Analytics — a third-party web analytics service that uses cookies to tell visits apart, a product analytics service that keeps an identifier in your browser's local storage, and a cookie-free analytics tool that we host ourselves.
  • Advertising measurement — a measurement pixel from an advertising partner, used to measure the results of our own advertising. It receives events such as account registrations and purchases.

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Signing in needs the session cookie.

4. How We Use Your Data

Data collected is used to:

  • Operate and improve the Service, including your account and what you save
  • Send the emails described above
  • Detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access
  • Understand how the Service is used and measure the results of our own marketing

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Service Providers

We use service providers to run ScreenerHero: infrastructure and database hosting, content delivery and security filtering, backups, payment processing, email delivery, analytics and advertising measurement. They process data only as needed to provide their service, under their own terms and privacy policies, and may see request metadata such as IP addresses and timestamps. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

6. Data Retention

Your account data and what you save are kept until you ask us to delete your account. Analytics data is kept for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Server logs rotate automatically. Data in your browser stays until you clear it.

When an account is deleted, its sessions, saved screens, alerts, profile photo and personal details are deleted. A removed or deleted photo can stay visible at its old web address for up to a day, until caches expire. Watchlists it owned are detached from it (they hold only a name and stock symbols) or, if other people edit them, handed to one of them; delete a watchlist yourself first if you do not want it to remain.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export or request deletion of the personal data we hold about you, and to object to some uses of it. To exercise them, or to have your account deleted, contact us via the contact information on the About page.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScreenerHero accepts no liability for any damages arising from unauthorized access to data transmitted through or stored on the Service, provided that we have taken reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. Use of the Service is at your own risk.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
