Speaking from Campo Grande in Brazil, Thomas said drilling is focused on mapped pegmatites at surface, building on extensive previous exploration work including soil sampling and rock-chip analysis, with the first hole around 120 metres at the time of the interview as the company tests prospective areas below surface. He also discussed wider exploration potential at Campo Grande, where a 500-metre drilling corridor has been identified within a broader one-kilometre lithium corridor, highlighting LCT indicators including lithium, tantalum and rubidium as Solis uses available exploration data to refine its targets. Elsewhere in Brazil, the company has completed a seven-hole drilling programme at its other lithium project, providing coverage of the mapped area considered highly prospective, with logging and sampling under way and assays awaited. In Peru, Solis has also commenced drilling at the Cinto copper project, with the first hole planned to reach around 600 metres and potentially extend further. "We're extremely active again, three active projects," Thomas said, pointing to the volume of exploration information currently being generated and adding that Solis is "focused on lithium and copper," with further news flow expected as laboratory results come in. ![]() Domestic Metals launches 9,000-metre drill program at Rio Tinto-backed Smart Creek project Domestic Metals CEO Gord Neal joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the start of the company's fully funded 9,000-metre diamond drilling program at its Smart Creek Project in Montana, a major exploration campaign aimed at testing high-grade porphyry copper mineralization identified through extensive exploration work completed over the past two years. Neal said the program will consist of approximately six to eight drill holes focused primarily on the Smart Creek and Sunrise Mine targets. These targets were generated through a combination of induced polarization (IP) geophysical surveys, surface sampling, historical drilling results, and advanced 3D geological modeling designed to identify and vector toward the property's most prospective mineralized zones. The Smart Creek Project is being advanced through a joint venture with mining giant Rio Tinto, which currently holds a 40% interest in the project. Covering approximately 8,000 hectares in Montana, the property is located about 50 kilometres northwest of the historic Butte Mining District and shares many of the same geological characteristics that have made the region one of North America's most prolific copper-producing areas. Neal noted that Smart Creek is considered highly prospective for both large-scale porphyry copper systems and copper-gold-silver enriched carbonate replacement deposits. Previous work by Rio Tinto helped establish the project's potential, with the company drilling 26 of 40 permitted drill sites while targeting what is believed to be a porphyry centre beneath the Smart Creek target area. One of Rio Tinto's most significant drill intercepts returned 109.73 metres grading 0.75% copper, including a higher-grade section of 89 metres grading 0.97% copper. Those results helped strengthen the geological model and provided important vectors for the current drill campaign. Adding to the project's growing exploration appeal, Domestic Metals' 2025 field program delivered exceptionally high-grade surface sampling results, including values of 102 grams per tonne gold, 23.1% copper, and 3,810 grams per tonne silver. These results further support the presence of a robust mineralizing system and provide additional targets for follow-up exploration. #proactiveinvestors #domesticmetals #tsxv #dmcu #otcqb #dmcuf #SmartCreek #CopperMining #RioTinto #CopperExploration #GoldMining #SilverMining #CriticalMinerals #MiningStocks #ResourceInvesting | ||

![]() Critical Mineral Resources CEO: Ex-Rio Tinto exec Brett Capper 'a bit of a coup' for Agadir Melloul Critical Mineral Resources PLC (LSE:CMRS, FRA:98J) CEO Charlie Long talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the appointment of Brett Capper as chair of the company’s Technical Committee and how his experience will support feasibility and development work at the Agadir Melloul project. Long highlighted Capper’s extensive mining industry experience, including senior roles at Rio Tinto and involvement with the feasibility study for the Simandou project in Guinea. He said this combination of operational, technical and project development experience would be valuable as Critical Mineral Resources determines how best to advance Agadir Melloul. “For us to have him is a bit of a coup, very much a coup,” Long said, adding that Capper could help the company ensure it does “the right things” while avoiding unnecessary spending and over-engineering. A key focus is capital discipline. Long explained that this applies not only to the eventual mine build but also to the scope of work assigned to external technical consultants during feasibility studies. With the company planning to begin with a shallow open-pit operation, CMR wants to focus expenditure on work required for the initial development rather than undertaking detailed studies for potential future stages prematurely. The company is also assessing a range of development options, including whether initial throughput should be 500, 650, 750 or 1,000 tonnes per day. Other decisions include whether CMR should own its mining fleet and whether renewable energy and electric haul trucks could form part of the development. Long said these choices need to be considered during the planning process so the company has a clear development strategy before construction begins. ![]() Bradda Head's Ian Stalker: 'Proof of the pudding is in the drill bit' at Whistlejacket Bradda Head Lithium Ltd (AIM:BHL) executive chairman Ian Stalker spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the start of drilling at the Whistlejacket lithium project in Arizona, a joint venture with Rio Tinto's Kennecott Exploration Company. Stalker said the programme builds on previous exploration to give greater confidence in the scale and quality of the lithium system, filling gaps between more widely spaced historical drilling of already-identified lithium-bearing pegmatites. The work also draws on recent sampling since Bradda Head acquired the property, which Stalker said has sharpened targeting and identified several new areas, potentially expanding the resource beyond initial expectations. A key goal is generating enough data to support an NI 43-101 report and move Whistlejacket towards a maiden resource, with continuity and grade central to establishing the project's scale. "The proof of the pudding is in the drill bit," Stalker said. He also discussed the company's financial position following recent financing, saying it has "quite a long runway" as drilling and results progress. Stalker pointed to Whistlejacket's US location amid growing interest in domestic critical metals supply, adding that while Bradda Head will keep assessing other opportunities, these won't distract from its focus on Whistlejacket. ![]() Royal Road CEO: Hanash North shaping up as 'significant' Saudi zinc-silver project Royal Road Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:RYR, OTC:RRDMF, FRA:RLU) CEO Dr Tim Coughlin tells Proactive's Stephen Gunnion the company is 18 drill holes into Hanash North in Saudi Arabia, defining what he calls a zinc-silver project of significant potential, helped by zinc being 2026's best-performing metal so far. Coughlin explained the project showed little at surface, with only a thin, average-grade copper hit from a 1980s Rio Tinto hole. By untangling complex structural geometry, Royal Road identified a target at depth: mineralisation now extends over 350 metres of strike, remains open in multiple directions, with down-hole thicknesses of up to 20 metres of zinc at shallow depths. He also pointed to gold appearing at certain depths as a vector suggesting a larger causative intrusion below, which the team plans to drill. All work so far has been reverse circulation; diamond drilling and further geophysics, including an ongoing self-potential survey, are next. On capital allocation, Coughlin confirmed recently raised cash is dedicated entirely to Colombia, where Royal Road believes it's the largest title holder, with the Saudi programme's advancement to be discussed with JV partners and major shareholders. ![]() Pitcher Partners CIO discusses Australian earnings: retail weakness, miners hold firm Pitcher Partners CIO Cameron Curko talked with Proactive about the contrasting trends emerging from the Australian earnings season, with consumer-facing stocks coming under pressure while resources and energy companies continue to show resilience. He pointed to higher interest rates and weaker housing market activity as important pressures on goods-focused retailers. A slowdown in property transactions can reduce spending on furniture, appliances and other household products, while businesses facing weaker demand may respond with discounting, cost reductions and store rationalisation. Curko also discussed the growing importance of efficiency across corporate Australia. He highlighted cost control and investment in artificial intelligence, including CBA’s expectation that AI investment could begin producing benefits during the financial year. Resources remain a contrasting area of strength. Curko said copper had become increasingly important to major miners including BHP and Rio Tinto, supported by mine closures, data-centre demand and the continuing renewables transition. Energy stocks, meanwhile, were being supported by geopolitical disruption affecting commodity flows from the Middle East. Looking ahead, Curko said AGM season could prove particularly important as companies provide further indications about FY27 trading. He remained positive on major miners at prevailing commodity prices while taking a more cautious view of banks and parts of the domestic-facing market.
